Parent Governor

My children all attend Glenmere, and I am pleased to be able to make a contribution to the school as one of the parent governors.

I strongly believe that education does not just exist to teach children basic facts and skills (although those are important). It should empower them to reach beyond their immediate experiences, to have enquiring and open minds, to treat others with decency and respect and to live up to their full potential.

Andrew Jones

Parent Governor

I have 17 years of experience as a teacher in post-16 education, with a focus on ensuring students enjoy their time in education and make excellent progress. Currently, I am a curriculum manager at Leicester College.  Over my career I have managed departments in Sport, Science, English, and Maths. I have also served as a curriculum quality manager, working on raising standards across the whole college through staff observations, training, standardisation, and moderation activities. I am honoured to hold a position of Governor at Glenmere Primary School and I look forward to working with the Glenmere community over the next 4 years.

Throughout my 23 years of teaching, I have taught every age group from nursery through to Year 6 and am currently teaching year 4. I gained my BSC (Hons) QTS qualification from Worcester University and whilst there, I specialised in PE. I have coordinated all subjects throughout my years of teaching and am the current music coordinator at Glenmere. As well as singing, I play a variety of musical instruments and thoroughly enjoy encouraging the children of Glenmere to not only learn and appreciate all the aspects of music, but also use it to support their own mental health and wellbeing.

Emma Carton

My teaching career began at Nottingham Trent University where I studied Primary Education for 4 years, teaching across the city of Nottingham, gaining my first teaching job in inner city Nottingham in 2011. During this time, I was maths coordinator and behaviour lead across the school. I joined Glenmere in 2016 when moving to Leicester. It was then that I became a member of the governing body.
