ENRICHMENT 2024/205

YEAR 6 RESIDENTIAL

The children in year 6 had the most amazing experience during their stay at Condover Hall.

COUNTRY-WIDE ONLINE ASSEMBLY FOR CELEBRATING DIFFERENCES AND OVERCOMING ADVERSITY

We were very proud to take part in a country-wide assembly, which involved many schools, all listening in to and watching about how to celebrate all of our differences. The children told us how it linked in with the work we do in school on British Values and Protected Characteristics.

CONGRATULATIONS GLENMERE!

Glenmere school feels very proud to announce that we have received the Platinum Sports School Games Award.

PHONICS AFTERNOON

Children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 welcomed their adults into school to demonstrate how they learn phonics. Thank you to all the adults who came. We hope you enjoyed the afternoon.

FIRST AID COURSE

Years 5 and 6 learnt so many new and exciting life skills when they took part in their annual first aid course. They were learning how to clean and bandage cuts, bruises, sprains and breaks and learnt how to resuscitate a person, then put them into the recovery position. They even had the opportunity to create their own fake injuries!

RAINFOREST WORKSHOP

In preparation for their new geography topic next half-term, year 4 had a great time during their rainforest workshop.

FIREFIGHTERS AT GLENMERE!

EYFS had a visit from our local Fire Brigade and enjoyed learning all about the emergency services. They dressed up in their own costumes to celebrate those who help us when we are in need as part of their topic.

Dinosaur Workshop

EYFS and Year 1 really enjoyed becoming palaeontologists for the morning and learnt such a lot about dinosaurs. They even got to dig for dinosaur bones!

Protected Characteristics Day

The children spent the day taking part in activities which develop their knowledge and understanding of The Protected Characteristics.

No Way Day

At Glenmere, we feel it is important that the children are aware of the difference between the concept of bullying and conflict, so the children are given regular opportunities to discuss this topic and take part in activities to enhance their understanding.

Maths Afternoon

It was lovely to see so many adults come along to our Maths afternoon and join in the activities with the children.

Laser Tag and Nerf Gun Wars

The children of Glenmere were in mixed age groups and visited each classroom to learn about the faiths in Leicestershire.

We had the most amazing day enriching our topics through virtual reality.

It was so wonderful to see so many family members come into school and take part in our family day activities.

The children in years 1 to 5 had the most fabulous time during their Steel Pans Workshop! They sounded fabulous; it really brought the summer vibes to the start of our new summer term.

Year 3 and 4 Islamic Centre

The children in years 3 and 4 visited the Islamic centre to learn more about Islam and the significance of the beautiful mosque. They were amazed at the stunning decor and listened intently to the explanations of how it is used by Muslims in our local area.

Maypole Dancing

The children learnt how to weave the ribbons around the maypole while dancing to the rhythm of the music. Their smiles were infectious as they skipped round in their teams.

There were whoops of excitement in the Glenmere hall during the Silly Science Workshop! It was fabulous to see the excitement on the children's faces.
